Hit "S" on the keyboard with your image selected in the timeline to bring up the Scale settings. When you first drag in your image it is most likely going to need adjustments. Click the eyeball to the far left of the placeholder image again to hide it so only your image beneath it can be seen. Click & drag your first image from the “Images” folder in the Project Panel down to the timeline beneath the placeholder image. Now that you see how easy it is to see media through the pre-built effects, click back in the “Image 1” layer. Do the same thing for “Text 1” and “Image 1” to see the placeholder header text and background image in the final composition. Now click back to the main "Final Comp" at the top of timeline you'll see the word "OPENER" now also appears in the final composition with all effects applied. Click this box to see the text element in the composition window. Inside of it, you’ll see the text source “OPENER” and to the far left of this layer is an empty box below an eyeball graphic. Navigate to the text element in the timeline labeled “Text 2" and double-click it. This is all you need to know for now to get started making your slideshow. This is where you can see all of the layers from top to bottom, any automation keyframes you've applied as well as when each element comes in and out in time. The window to the right is the “Composition Panel” where you view your composition as it gets created and the bottom half is all the “Timeline Panel”.
The top left window is called the “Project Panel” and this is where you import, house and organize all media assets used in your project. Let's do a quick overview of the After Effects layout. Select your royalty-free background music and drag them into into the music folder in the project panel. Select your images and drag them into your "Images" folder in the project panel. You can go back to the finder window where your Assets are quickly by hitting “Command+Tab”. Then right click again > select “New Folder” > give it the name “Music” > hit return. Now, create a new folder in the project panel by right clicking in the empty space > select “New Folder” > give it the name “Images” > hit return.
After Effects will also automatically find and restore any other missing files located in the same folder. Navigate to your template folder and select the file from the “02 Assets (Dont delete)” folder. In our case, open the folder that says “03 Assets (Dont delete)" right click on the "particles" file and go to Replace Footage > File. To find missing files, locate the missing files in the project panel which is the top left window in After Effects with the word "Project" at the top. If there are any files missing for the project, After Effects will let you know. Now that we have all of our assets organized in the same folder as our template we can double-click the project file to open it in After Effects. Drag all of your photos and your background music file into the new “Assets” folder to keep your files well organized and together in one place. Once you have found all of your assets, go back to where you saved your template, create another folder and give it the name “Assets”. Make sure you also have a royalty-free music track that you will use as in the background of the video you build.
It’s completely up to you and the purpose of your project. You can also use vides instead of images if you would like to showcase a short clip in one of the slides instead of an image. We can click on each image, right click > Save As, give it a name and save them one-by-one to a destination on your computer.
